The US-based automobile manufacturer Chrysler was officially founded in 1925 by Walter Chrysler when the Maxwell Motor Company was re-organised into the Chrysler Corporation. In January 1924, the first Chrysler automobile was launched and welcomed with open arms. The first model featured a carburetor air filter, a high compression engine and an oil filter. This first model was well received and bolstered Chrysler on to release more 4-cylinder models in 1926.

Fast forward 84 years and the Chrylser company are still growing strong, despite a big shake up in the last few years. In 1998 Chrysler was purchased by Daimler-Benz AG where it became DailmerChrysler AG. In 2007 DaimlerChrysler announced the sale of just over 80% of the Chrysler Group to American provate equity firm Cerberus Capital Managment LP. But this wasn't to be the end of the Chrysler sales. On 27th April 2009, Daimler signed a deal to sell its remaining 19.9% in Chrysker LLC and on 30th April Chrysler filed for Chapter 11 reorganisation and announced a partnership plan with Fiat.

Nowadays Chrysler ranks around 13th in the world's largest vehicle manufacturer and has produced more than 1.89 million vehicles. It's in the "Big Three" American vehicle manufacturers (after General Motors and Ford Motor Company) and ranks ahead of major rivals like BMW.

OK so it's clear that Chrysler are enjoying great success but are they still popular with drivers. The answer seems to be a definite "yes". Chrysler leasingis becoming more and more popular every day thanks to the great service and sophisticated vehicles it produces. Popular Chrysler models include the Chrysler 300C Saloon, the Chrysler 300C Estate and the Chrysler Grand Voyager MPV. A firm family favourite, Chrysler are well known for producing high end sophisticated models which have great performance records.

Looking to the future, Chrysler are keen to embrace the "green car" phenomenon which is currently taking place. Chrsyler's ENVI organisation was formed in 2007 to focus on electric-drive vehicles. The manufacturer brought 3 all new electric vehicles at the Detroit Auto Show including the Dodge ZEO Concept, the Chrysler ecoVoyager and the Jeep Renegade. There are also plans to bring out at least 3 new hybrid vehicles in the next few years, highlighting the manufacturer's commitment to quality "eco-friendly" vehicles.
